Route Info

Here's a link which provides more detail on the bike route. Our starting point, Tuttlingen, is just west of Ulm. We've decided to bike past Budapest, possibly to Croatia, and loop back for our flight home.

Packing

Finished packing yesterday. We’re bringing 272 lbs of gear, which includes: 2 bikes, 1 weehoo (google it to find out more - very cool kids trailer), 1 single Chariot, camping gear, tools, kitchen, etc. We’re bringing 347.4 lbs of humans - maybe kid’s weight will increase and ours will decrease for no net change. Here’s a pic of Patti posing with all the stuff:

Training

Completed our first group training ride today with fully loaded gear. We rode from home along the Alaska Highway to Winterlong Brewing, to Whitehorse Copper Subdivision, and then back home on Myles Canyon road ~ 35 km. All the gear seemed to be working great and the loaded panniers didn’t feel too heavy. Having a mid-day beer after riding 11 km at Winterlong was definitely a nice luxury of being on Parental leave! Daytime temperature was still only around 2 Degrees C with a wind, so it was a bit cold. Here’s a few shots from today:
